Evaluation Belgian Championships Multidiscipline
The Belgian championships multidiscipline in Blankenberge have come to an end, so it's time to evaluate my personal results. This year I've chosen not to take part in two disciplines (libre and balkline 47/2). Due to the busy past few weeks, I thought it might be better to choose a lighter program. These championships in all disciplines are played by each other, so it's possible you have to play different disciplines on the same day.
On Friday the 13th of January I had a game of three cushion to start with, after that a game of one cushion and two matches of baulk line. Fun to watch for the audience, but very demanding for the players. I can be very content with my results. I've won all the games in the classical game sorts, with extremes of 88.88 general average in balkline 47/1 with 200 points in 1 turn in the final game, a general average of 20.68 in one cushion, the shortest game 150 in 4 turns and the highest series of 90. Balkline 71/2 was not so good, but the most important matches I won with 250 in 2 turns.
In three cushion I played very unstable. The first two rounds were difficult, especially the 1/8 finals where I narrowly won with 3-2 to Peter Ceulemans. I did manage to reach the finals on willpower, but due to the change of game sort I wasn't able to give it my all in three cushion. I personally find the change of three cushion to series easier than the other way around. The final against Eddy Merckx started great, because I won the first set 15-0 in 2 turns thanks to a series of 11. After that I had plenty of chances to make 2-0 but I couldn't make it. Chances were left untapped, 1-1 and after that Merckx was undefeatable. I couldn't fight back and I had to take home the silver medal. Eventually we closed this great final with 2.368 for Eddy and 2.111 for me. All and all a very successful multidiscipline 2012 for me and I pushed my Belgian titles to 79 in all game sorts.
