The dream of starter
When I started playing carom back in 1986, I had the old players, the "champions" of my club and my own experiences to progress. I naturally bought some of the few available books to understand the game, but I had no other sources to draw new knowledge. At that time, to learn a little bit more carom than the first levels, you had to take courses with a champion, a real one. It had been so for generations.
But with the advantages of new technologies, especially the internet, the carom player now has access to so much more information. With a single click they have access to other players, other clubs, other associations, other countries and other continents. The world is currently at his feet, immediately and without any effort. In the world of carom, a man has revolutionized the access to this virtual world by creating Kozoom, the first major portal dedicated to our sport.
With a lot of development, it became one of the best portals to access essential knowledge. Reports after championships, you can view the exploits of our champions, view datasheets, view and purchase books, contact other players, watch hours of videos etc. Several other portals then appeared in various countries and many players associations have put on the web to share, exchange or market.
The players who hold knowledge, whether they are champions of yesterday, today or tomorrow, have to transmit it. And I dream that in the future all of carom will be accessible to everyone, with only a single mouse click. For we, actors of these new technologies, must use them to transmit and disseminate widely, to train our future champions. I'm sure our old player would be happy to become part of this influx of knowledge in their beginning.
