December 8th | Europe draws first blood

Traditionally, the first match of the Mosconi Cup is a team match, five against five. In a race to 6, each player faces a player from the opposing side in a battle over a single rack. The teams break alternately. Europe did a great job in hauling in that valuable first Mosconi Cup point: Europe 1-0 USA.

In the race to 6, Souquet takes the first rack... 1-0 for Team Europe. The Dutch Nick van den Berg loses his visit at the table, as Archer adges him out... 1-1. Fellow Dutchman Niels Feijen proves his value on the team with two wins against Shawn Putnam, two wins out of two. The first rack for Niels followed after an excellent safety exchange. He stole the second as Putnam hooked himself and played the 3ball into the open. Souquet, Feijen en Appleton on 100%.

Souquet 1-0 Van Boening
Van den Berg 0-1 Archer
Feijen 1-0 Putnam
Melling 0-1 Dechaine
Appleton 1-0 Morris
Souquet 1-0 Van Boening
Van den Berg 0-1 Archer
Feijen 1-0 Putnam
Melling 1-0 Dechaine
